Dear Reader,
The mystery novel And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie was by far my favorite book we read this year. Mystery has always been my favorite genre; it's so exciting and suspenseful.
For this project, I chose to focus on the theme of warped justice in the novel. The recurring theme definitely gives the book its Gothic claim.
For my project, I am including a poem, an invitation, journal entries, a song and a trivia game.
The poem is the one the book was based on, which is basically a summary of the novel. Although it basically tells you what happens, you could read it again and again, but you still need to read the book to know what happens.
I included the invitation because the guests must have been confused when they received the letters. If they had received the honest one, it would've taken all the mystery out of the story. Although, the guests probably would not have shown up had they known the truth...
The diary entries track Wargrave's thoughts through the process of planning his revenge. Here, we see his train of thought and how he actually believes what he's doing is right.
In the song, the singer does what he thinks is necessary to get by, but the law doesn't agree with it. That would be the same boat Wargrave would be in if he had lived to be prosecuted. He did something that he thought was right, but in the end it was a crime and he would have been punished for it. This further reflects the theme of warped justice.
I created the trivia game because it was a fun way to brush up on the plot of the book. It focuses on more mysterious aspects, which enhances the element of mystery which is so prominent in the book.
I hope you enjoy, and maybe have a little fun while you're here!
Enjoy your stay...
